Cork is the Republic of Ireland’s second largest city with a population of c.220,000 which includes its metropolitan suburbs. Cork has a thriving economy backed by both large scale FDI employers in the ICT and Life Sciences sectors and indigenous industries linked to food production, services, manufacturing and tourism. Cork is home to the world’s largest company Apple Inc, who’s European Head Quarters have been based in Hollyhill since the early 1980’s.

Cork is a University City and has a 3rd level student population of approx. 30,000 with most attending UCC or CIT. UCC have significant expansion plans following a €240m funding package from the EIB. Cork also has excellent transport links and is only a 2.5 hour train journey or drive to Dublin. Cork International Airport was voted The Best Airport in Europe 2017 in the <5m passenger category and it also has one of the busiest shipping ports in the country.

The National Planning Framework Strategy (Ireland 2040) sets out a clear vision for Cork to become the country’s fastest growing city over the next 20 years. The plan includes population growth of over 55% (+130,000) and multi-billion euro investment in core infrastructure and public facilities.

Douglas

Douglas is Cork’s most desirable residential address

Douglas is established as Cork’s most desirable residential address, it has a population of over 20,000 and is located approx. 4kms south of Cork City Centre. Douglas is easily accessible via the N40 South Ring Road and at its heart lies the Old Village which has charming streetscapes and an array of upmarket shops, cafes, bars & restaurants. Douglas also has two shopping centres anchored by the likes of Dunnes Stores, Marks & Spencer and TK Maxx, in addition a Farmers Market is held in Douglas every Saturday.

Douglas is a thriving community and has excellent social infrastructure including schools and churches, a library and numerous sporting organisations and clubs to include GAA, Rugby, Soccer and Golf.

Maryborough Ridge

Maryborough Ridge is an established residential enclave located approximately 2kms south of Douglas Village. Development commenced in the mid 2000’s and Maryborough Ridge currently contains around 353 houses and apartments. The latest phase comprising 20 large detached houses at Hazel Hill sold briskly post completion in 2017/2018.

The estate is laid out and designed to the highest standards aimed primarily at the family market. It is also aesthetically pleasing incorporating brick fronted houses, mature trees, numerous play areas and safe cul-de-sac avenues. The 216 bus route services the area.
